Today was the end of the second week of Keswick Conventiom. Christians who attend from all over the world meet in this small Lakeland town to be taught from the Bible and enjoy meeting other Christians. Some were just arriving for week 3 , whilst others were leaving after week 2.
One gentleman spoke of visiting from ABERDEEN. At home his church was large and very lively. We had a good time with him and a few of his friends. They were very interested in the outreach work we were doing so we explained how the flipper flapper works and gave the a large version to use when they got home. They were happy to take some illusion cards that they could also use that have the Ten Commandments printed on the back
Another man whom Tom had known from his time in LIVERPOOL called by and was pleased to see him still working for the Lord.
A young girl from BOLTON chose to have a try at the guessing box. Whilst we talked with her, we explained that Jesus came to earth was to die for our sin. She took some tracts with her which we hoped would explain things further.
There were more young people who lived LOCALLY, some of them with their parents. Youngsters always like to try the guessing box. A group of six lads couldn’t identify all the items in the box and found it hard to relate to stories in the Bible. It takes quite some time to explain the gospel to them. It reminds us of the paucity of knowledge in our so- called Christian country.
KESWICK always has lots of dogs. We are glad to have the tract, “Man’s Best Friend, ”
So it’s good to pass these on when their owners pause for a minute while the dogs have a refreshing drink of water from our bowl.
Later in the day, we had a visit from a lady whose family came from POLAND. S he explained that she was on her way home after being at the convention which she had enjoyed very much. As she lives in a largely Catholic country, we gave her some copies of , “What the Catholic Bible Teaches”
To sum up the day Christian’s were encouraged, those interested in the gospel had this explained others were shown that some people do believe and this same Jesus has died to take away their sin too.
