We arrived quite early to set up while it was quiet. This year we used a gazebo, as the van was at the Penrith Show.
The first visitor was a soldier, Tom had been talking with them earlier, he had a good knowledge of the bible, he told us that, he was a staunch member of The Orange Order, the Northern Ireland-based fraternal group.
A young couple who were very anti-Christian, the female was about 18 yrs of age, she thought she was quite a good person and had never told a lie we had to remind her that, we all tell lies and this is sin. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Rom 3: 23.” she replied, she had read the bible in 3 different languages, it was then, that she stormed off as she could not believe what she was being told.
Many other conversations were had throughout the day.
A lady talked with us for a long time, she seemed to know quite a lot of the bible, yet she had not put her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, she came back later in the day and talked for a quite a while she took tracts with her and we encouraged her to go to the mission, she would find it helpful.
Another lady visited, she was on holiday with her two children, the children used the guessing box and were given tracts, she told us that, she used to to be a Sunday School Teacher.
The weather stayed fine, we gave out a good amount of material as well as a bible to a young man who said, he used to go to church with his grandparents.
The guessing box is a great outreach tool to use, we ask the children or, everyone who uses it to put their hand inside the Guessing Box, pull out an item/object, we then ask the children to describe it, then we ask them if they can relate a bible story to the item/object they have from the box. this leads to many conversations as well as the flipper flappers.
The seed has been sown once again at the Silloth Vintage Rally, please pray for this outreach.
