Silloth Show - July 2023

8.30 Saturday 25th July we arrived on the green. Everything was ready in the van, we didn’t think we’d forgotten anything, but, it was raining : raining so hard that it didn’t seem worthwhile to open up the van and get the tracts wet. Few people were wandering around but Tom noticed a crowd round the lads in the football competition so off he set with a pocketful of, “ the winning goal”  50  of the tracts were soon accepted and Tom came back to the van.

What next?  Well we did have quite a lot of leaflets advertising Silloth Missions 95 years anniversary  for the following weekend with the help of speakers from the Faith Mission. People weren’t coming to the green so off we went, set to push the leaflets through letter boxes.

Afterwards we resorted to the van and ate lunch, slowly the sun started to come out, people were on the green so we were in business. The first person was a man from Silloth, Mr T who looked at a number of tracts and then asked for a bible. He told us of his conversion some years earlier but added he didn’t attend any church at present. We encouraged him to attend Silloth Mission the following weekend where we knew there would be a sound biblical message.

People came from all parts, from Cumbria and farther afield, the Isle of Man, Scotland, the South of England and even Canada. People talked freely about the message of salvation through our Lord Jesus. In this witness we were pleased to have the help of Sarah and Pat from Silloth Mission.

So what can we say of the days work? The afternoon was better than the morning. Our God is so good to us. We had the opportunity to speak the good news and give it to people in their homes.
