Secretary's Report - 2011

Post date: May 03, 2011 12:24:34 AM

We give thanks to God for His faithfulness over ninety nine years to the Work of Cumbria Gospel Outreach. ln the early years the work was known as The Cumberland and Westmorland Tent -then the Cumberland and Westmorland Tent and Van.

There were three Christian businessmen who were there from the inception of the work - Mr David J Beattie, Mr John W Laing both from Carlisle and George Winter from Penrith. They had the vision to commence the work now known as Cumbria Gospel Outreach.

Over the years there have been times of great blessing as well as times of opposition! “if God be for us who can be against us”. Opposition is never far away when people come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

It was the same in the days of Samuel, when numerically the Israelites faced insurmountable opposition which they couldn’t conquer, but God was with them. We read in 1 Samuel ch. 7 v 12 “Thus far has the Lord helped us”.(NKJV). We take these wonderful words and apply them to our situation.

Through the hard times, the wet days, the cold days at the markets and shows and also through the good God has been faithful to us throughout the ninety-nine years of the Work of Cumbria Gospel Outreach.

It is good to know that Frank Lonney is to be with us DV during part of the summer and we look forward to him being with us.

Please remember the outreach at the markets and shows and if you are able to help then please Contact either Erich Bouch or David Johnston who will be pleased to hear from you.

Stephen Graham (Secretary)
