The weather forecast read 100% chance of rain. We were pleased to say they were 100% wrong. Glorious weather which really makes a difference. It’s always hard to remember even 10% of those who visit the stall.
Our first visitor was a young lad who tried the guessing box and then gladly took a Josh and Jane booklet. Children really like these tracts. We pray this young man will read this and begin on a journey to know the saviour.
! 2. (Second we recall) A group arrived and admired the stall, they were on a day bus trip from Carlisle. One lady, who lived in sheltered housing, was delighted to see a up-dated copy of, “the Way Ahead.” She explained a Quaker gentleman lived in a flat in the same block as she did. She was hoping we would have some it turned out he was a doctore, like his father before him on Quakers. I explained what I knew and that wasn’t much. Originally they were a very God fearing people and many seemed successful in business in say chocolate factories and were kind to their employees, providing them with superior accommodation but recent reports suggest I would argue with them on important points. The group took tracts and leaflets to use at Carlisle. These people are carrying on the work of CGO.
A group came from Preston and even more from Newcastle. There were more from London and of these I remember talking to a young man and his wife. He enjoyed using the guessing box and could relate Bible stories connected with the
“finds” in the box. As we chatted I discovered he was a doctor as was his father and his family were strong Muslims. He told how Muslims revered the Koran. He compared Islam to Christianity but I pointed out it was only Jesus who died for our sin and furthermore rose from the dead., the tomb was empty. I gave
him a note to look at later, for Psalm 22and Isaiah 53. They chose some tracts to take with them. Do pray for this young man and his wife as he was keen to learn more. Pray he will come across another believer to point out more of the fir
A lady from Manchester accompanied by a little girl called India spent time between the guessing box and a selection of tracts.
Another group of people came from Preston. Whilst the children were busy with the guessing box, I spent time with the parents who were listening whilst I told the of the good news of the death, resurrection and Ascesion of the Lord and of the amazing love of God to send his son to earth to bear the punishment our sin deserves.
So a busy day again. Amazingly the last group to arrive, came from Maryport with their two children. We were very glad to invite them to the Craft Club at Church. The adults were in fact the grandparents had already helped themselves to tracts but I did swap the one, “Man’s Best Friend “ which we give to people with dogs. I did recognise one of the ladies and she explained that her granddaughter who was now 17 had attended club regularly. We were glad to say this granddaughter could bring the two lads to club when the schools go back in September or there was church every Sunday at 11 and 6.
Please pray for all these mentioned. We rest on Gods word that says his word will not return to him void.
