The BBC issued a yellow warning of heavy rain for our area but thankfully there was very little on the day. It seemed to have put some exhibitors off coming. We can understand; it can be no fun driving a vintage sports car through puddles at the side of the road, much less getting soaked just driving . Never the less we felt the goodness of our God with visitors to the gazebo. ( The van was at Penrith Show.)
Our first visitor were a boy and a girl from Hexham. They enjoyed the guessing box and were eager to read the Josh and Jade booklets we gave them to understand the Bible better.
More locally we had a group from Workington who were starting their holiday on a caravan site in Silloth.
One young man had come to visit the vintage cars. Robert could readily understand
his enthusiasm, considering the work (and money) spent restoring these vehicles to show-room condition. However, we had come to share the gospel with such as our young man.
We did meet lots of people who didn’t attend any church. The guessing box was a good means of contacting people as young and older people wanted to try. We were pleased to welcome Pat and Sarah from Silloth Mission who stayed with us for some time and used the opportunity to invite people to meetings at their Church. Little notes with times and dates were carefully passed over with an assurance that they would be made very welcome.
It was good to have been at Silloth and to have shared the gospel with people who wouldn’t have heard it without us being there.
