Skelton Show - July 2023

The van arrived at the Skelton showfield by 8am. The display was set up by 9am, including two outside tables with display stands, the guessing box, and a range of Christian tracts, Bibles, and bible reading aids.

Unfortunately, rain showers hit the showfield at 10am. Plastic sheets were used to protect the outside display for most of the morning. The rain and reduced display resulted in few visitors to the van.

Robert brought along a dog water bowl. During the day, many people with dogs stopped by the "dog water station". This enabled a number of conversations to take place while the dogs quenched their thirst. All spoken to received the tract "Man's Best Friend".

The afternoon saw an improvement in the weather and also in the number attending the show. The removal of the plastic sheets protecting the outside tables resulted in many more visits, especially from children and young people trying their luck with the guessing box.

A long conversation was held with a middle-aged local businessman. He was very open to discuss Christian beliefs and advised that he was a practicing Roman Catholic. He was offered the booklet "What the Catholic Bible Teaches" but refused to accept this and other Christian literature. He announced that he already knew "all this", did not need the literature, and left.

During the afternoon, other conversations were held. Many children and teenagers attended the guessing box and all left after receiving literature reminding them of the Gospel message.
